Weekend Warrior Flow - Ashtanga Reimagined
Intermediate/Advanced
Welcome to our 90-minute class based on the elements of Ashtanga sequencing. Ashtanga Reimagined is a rigorous and structured practice that emphasizes synchronizing breath with movement to create a flowing sequence of postures. Through the regulation of this practice, the Eight Limbs of Yoga will be nourished while exploring the principles and many of the postures Ashtanga Reimagined is based upon, while incorporating musical exploration and breath-work. Stick with it! It’s physical, fun and will give you a full sense of accomplishment while clearing the energy center of any blockages through the specific sequence of postures.
99% Practice, 1% Theory
Our class will begin with a brief introduction to the eight limbs of yoga, which will set the intention for our practice. We will then move into a dynamic physical practice, which will focus on building strength and flexibility through a sequence of postures that will challenge your body and mind. The sequence will be based on the Ashtanga Primary Series, which is a set sequence of postures that builds upon itself to create a flowing practice.
As we move through the physical practice, we will explore the use of music to enhance our practice. The music will be carefully chosen to complement the sequence of postures, and will be used to create a sense of flow and rhythm. In addition to the physical practice, we will also incorporate breath-work, or pranayama, which is a fundamental aspect of the Ashtanga practice. By focusing on the breath, we will be able to quiet the mind and create a sense of inner calm and focus. Our journey through the eight limbs of yoga will culminate with a deep relaxation and meditation, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and centered.
