Northwest Florida Advanced Citizen Corps Academy
The Northwest Florida Advanced Citizen Corps Academy is a two-and-a-half-day training conference centered around readiness, response, and recovery efforts in relation to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, storms, and disasters of all kinds. This program will provide attendees with a well-rounded and robust training consisting of seminars and hands-on exercises relating to National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS), medical triage, disaster psychology, first aid, counterterrorism, active shootings, communication systems, disabilities and functional need support services, and more. We have numerous instructors from across Northwest Florida that will be presenting including but not limited to: BRACE Santa Rosa County Emergency Management SAFER Santa Rosa American Red Cross of Northwest Florida Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Additionally, there will be a field exercise on the final morning that will encompass all that was learned during the Academy. The attendees will be responsible for conducting proper search and rescue techniques, developing a triage area, administering first aid and psychological first aid to the “disaster survivors,” and coordinating logistics using two-way radios, all while following the Incident Command System. COVID -19 Guidelines The Academy will follow CDC guidelines and protocols which include maintaining social distance in each training room, issuing masks, and providing personal size hand sanitizer to every participant. BRACE will have staff on-site sanitizing regularly.
