Pensacola State to stage ‘Machinal’ March 5-8 in Ashmore Auditorium
The Pensacola State College Performing Arts Department will stage “Machinal” March 5-8.
The Thursday through Saturday, March 5-7, performances are set for 7:30 p.m. in the Ashmore Auditorium, Building 8, on the Pensacola campus at 1000 College Blvd. The Sunday, March 8, performance will be at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
A play by American playwright Sophie Treadwell, “Machinal” was inspired the real-life case of Ruth Snyder who was executed at New York’s Sing Sing Prison for the murder of her husband. The play, first staged in 1928, is considered one the high points of Expressionism theater on the American stage.
Tickets are $11, adults; $9, seniors, non-PSC students and children; $7, PSC Seniors Club, PSC Alumni Association members, PSC faculty and staff; and free for PSC students with current ID.
Purchase tickets online at performingarts.pensacolastate.edu or at the Lyceum Box Office, Building 8, Room 861, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets also are available at the door, one hour before a performance.
